Fragment 176-191

A short synthetic peptide matching the tail end (C-terminal region) of human growth hormone. Published research is old and sparse: lab and rodent studies from the 1990s and early 2000s, mostly on the closely related modified fragment AOD9604.

Evidence: preclinical · Older rodent and lab studies, mostly on a related analog

Mechanism studied

Early lab work reported that a synthetic peptide matching hGH residues 177-191 reduced fat synthesis (lipogenesis) with activity similar to intact growth hormone [1]. Later rodent studies used AOD9604, a modified C-terminal hGH fragment, and found it raised fat oxidation and plasma glycerol, a marker of fat breakdown [2][3]. Unlike full growth hormone, AOD9604 did not compete for the growth hormone receptor or trigger cell proliferation in lab assays [2]. Whether results for AOD9604 apply to the unmodified 176-191 sequence has not been directly tested in published work located.
