Also known as: LY3437943
An investigational single peptide that activates three hormone receptors at once: GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon. It has been investigated in five reported phase 3 trials and in multiple rodent models.
Retatrutide is one peptide built to activate three hormone receptors: GIP and GLP-1, the two receptors targeted by earlier incretin compounds, plus the glucagon receptor [1]. Research has explored whether adding glucagon-receptor activity raises energy expenditure and liver fat metabolism beyond what dual GIP/GLP-1 activity produces. That added contribution has not been isolated in humans and is unverified.
